This online workshop introduces network analysis techniques for understanding complex biological systems. Designed for students, researchers, and professionals in bioinformatics and systems biology, the course explores how networks can be used to analyze interactions between genes, proteins, and other biological entities. Participants will begin with an overview of network analysis in bioinformatics, followed by a discussion on different types of biological networks, including protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks, metabolic networks, and gene regulatory networks. The course will cover key data sources and tools for constructing and analyzing networks, as well as fundamental concepts of network topology, such as degree distribution, clustering, and centrality measures. A case study will demonstrate the application of network analysis in real-world biological research.
The hands-on session will guide participants through setting up a network analysis environment, constructing and visualizing biological networks, and performing network topology analysis to extract meaningful insights. By the end of the workshop, participants will have the skills to apply network analysis techniques to their own research.
